Clear aligners
Clear aligners are a series of clear trays, each worn for a set time, that move the teeth in small steps. They suit some bites and not others, and the doctor tells you which you have.
Services
What happens
Check-ins are usually every six to twelve weeks, and the doctor gives a range for your case.
Step 1: A scan and a plan
The doctor scans your teeth, shows the plan on a screen and says whether aligners are a good fit.
Step 2: Trays arrive in sets
You pick up sets of trays and learn when to change them. Small tooth-colored bumps are sometimes bonded on to help the trays grip.
Step 3: Wear them as directed
Trays work only when they are worn for most of the day. You take them out to eat and to clean your teeth.
Step 4: Check-ins and retainers
We check progress, send the next sets, and fit retainers when the last tray is done.
Services
Comfort, choices and care
Comfort
Teeth are often sore when you start a new tray. Speech can feel different for a few days, and we tell you what helps. Trays come out to eat, so food choices stay yours.
If you wait
If aligners are not the right fit, the doctor says so and offers braces instead. Waiting is a choice, and you can ask what it would change.
Risks and after-care
Trays that are not worn as directed slow treatment, and a lost tray means a call to us. Teeth move back if retainers are not worn. Some bites cannot be moved with aligners alone.
How it is billed
We put the fee for the whole course in a written estimate. Your plan decides what it pays, and the estimate says whether retainers and replacement trays are included.

Questions about clear aligners
Are aligners right for a teenager?
Sometimes. A teenager has to wear them most of the day and keep track of the case, so we talk it over with the teenager and a parent before choosing.
Can I eat with them in?
No. Trays come out to eat and drink anything but water, and go back in after you brush.
What if I lose a tray?
Call us. We tell you whether to go back to the last tray or move on, and replace it.
Do you use a particular brand?
The owner names the system the practice uses here. We explain what it is and what it does not do.
